In an interview with James Corden on February 26th, Prince Harry shows himself in an unusual light, to say the least.
The public already knows it: Prince Harry is the cool prince of the British royal family. More relaxed and less traditional than the rest of his genealogy, he has been the most anti-conformist of the Royals many times in the past, until recently when he decided to distance himself from the crown to enjoy the green Californian pastures with his wife, son and baby on the way.
In an interview filmed at the end of 2020 and published this Friday, Diana’s youngest son joins host James Corden in Los Angeles for a bus tour of the city. “It’s the first time I’ve ever taken a guided tour from the top of a tour bus,” says Harry. As the grandson of the Queen of England, it’s hard to imagine him sitting among the tourists on London’s buses. While the prince is enjoying a cup of tea and a few confidences, James Corden decides to make a stop at a rather special house, namely the one that was used in the series The Prince of Bel-Air.
Amused by the princely pun, the English host suggests to his guest that he buy the house to take it to the top of its class. “Do you remember the theme song,” James Corden asks Prince Harry as they walk towards the house. Without being begged, Meghan Markle’s husband, Meghan Markle’s husband, launches into the famous rap usually sung by Will Smith.
A moment of anthology quickly followed by a second unusual passage. While Prince Harry is in false negotiations with the owner of the house to buy back the property, he declares that he needs to use the toilet. An unexpected scene that amuses James Corden, who remains on the stoop. Suddenly, Prince Harry’s head appears in one of the first floor windows. “James!” he writes to himself, “If I’m not back in ten minutes, come and get me!”
Meghan Markle called to the rescue
James Corden decided to discuss the house purchase directly with Meghan Markle via video call. “I think you should live here,” he tells the Duchess of Sussex. “What does Harry think,” she replies, amused. “Well, he’s already used the toilet, that’s how comfortable he feels there!”
