Could Princess Anne be to blame for the Frogxit? In the British royal family, it is the King’s sister who is currently being singled out. The cause: the new book by Omid Scobie, a journalist specialising in royalty, who denounces the decision as the brainchild of the late Queen’s only daughter.
Quite a wedding present. To congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their union, Queen Elizabeth II gave them the Windsor estate. But the couple were evicted in January, twenty-four hours after the publication of Harry’s memoirs, Spare. Recently, it’s Omid Scobie’s new book that’s been the talk of the town, with its many revelations about the underbelly of recent royal conflicts between Meghan and Harry and the rest of the British royal family. Known for his close relationship with Prince Harry and the former Suits actress, the journalist’s book looks in particular at the “cruel punishment” of the Frogxit, which Princess Anne is said to have instigated.
Prince Harry’s response to the decision to expel him was reportedly, “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren any more?”, a question that sounded like a threat. According to Scobie, only Harry’s uncle, Prince Edward, was concerned about Prince Harry’s condition. The journalist even accuses King Charles III of being more concerned about the pressure being put on Prince Andrew in the wake of the Epstein scandal than about the fate of his son. In Endgame, published on Tuesday 21 November, Scobie claims that Meghan accused two members of the royal family of questioning her son Archie’s skin colour. The Duchess of Sussex even wrote to the King to express her concerns.
Will Meghan Markle return to England?
This book, which follows on from another book entitled Finding Freedom by the same author, contains many revelations about what goes on behind the scenes in the royal family. We learn that Meghan has had no contact with the Princess of Wales since 2019. The author states, not without irony, that Princess Kate “has spent more time talking about her sister-in-law Meghan than she has ever spent with her”. In the same vein, he claims that while Meghan and Harry sent gifts to William and Kate’s three children last Christmas, they reportedly received nothing in return, “not even a message from them”. According to the author, Archie and Lilibet’s mum “never wants to
set foot in England again”, where she “never felt at home”.
