Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival , is packed with revelations about the royal family. In particular, the book offers interesting details about Princes William and Harry, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle : the behaviour of Prince William and The Princess of Wales that still sticks in their craw and Meghan Markle. The book also describes behaviour on the part of the Welsh that is said to have stuck in the Sussexes’ craw. In an extract obtained by the Daily Mail, the book recalls the racial row sparked by the Sussexes’ controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey. In addition to the alleged treatment of the Duchess of Sussex by the royal family, a member of the family is said to have made racist comments about Prince Archie’s skin colour.
Omid Scobie’s book claims that it was in fact two members of the royal family whose identities were revealed in letters exchanged between Meghan Markle and King Charles III. Also in these letters, the monarch had encouraged the Duchess to talk about her feelings with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle : the behaviour of Prince William and The Princess of Wales that still sticks in their craw. Unfortunately, the discussion did not go down well. The reaction of the Wales clan to this controversial interview is said to have upset the Sussexes.

Immediately after the Oprah Winfrey interview, the Sussexes were presumably expecting a reaction from the Prince and Princess of Wales. Only, the parents of Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte just went radio silent. The two couples didn’t speak to each other for 2 years after the interview, according to Omid Scobie. This greatly “confused and upset” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Contrary to Prince Harry’s expectations, Prince William instead came to the family’s defence. “We are absolutely not a racist family,” he said at the time. A palace source also claimed that the Welsh were influential in drafting Buckingham Palace’s public response afterwards.
