Prince Harry and Prince William: Still cold but “relieved.”

Tension points built up over the months between the two brothers, eventually leading to the break with the “Megxit”. Since Prince Harry left the United Kingdom to start a new life in Canada with Meghan, his relationship with William would come to a standstill.

Although he did not leave on very good terms with his family, Prince Harry would enjoy his new life in Canada with Meghan Markle and Archie, now 9 months old. According to a family friend who confided in People magazine on February 5, 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would enjoy this new freedom by living a (nearly) ordinary life.

While the 38-year-old former actress arrived in Vancouver on January 13, her husband stayed an extra week to deal with the Megxit crisis with his family. After the crisis meeting called by Queen Elizabeth in Sandringham with Prince Charles and William, it was finally agreed that the Sussex would distance themselves from the monarchy and renounce their titles of Highnesses while becoming financially independent. However, Princes Harry and William did not make up for it: “They did not part on good terms, but they are both relieved that it is over,” said a family friend.

The two brothers have always been close, but tensions began as early as 2017, when William reportedly warned his younger brother about the speed with which he was engaging Meghan Markle. Vexed, Harry would have held it against him, even though he finally asked her to be his best man at his royal wedding in May 2018. Their relationship would have gradually deteriorated, the elder assuming more and more his role as future king, the younger one shaking more and more the protocol with his desire for emancipation. “We are currently on different paths,” Harry said in September in a documentary. We don’t see each other as much as we used to, because we’re busy, but I love him deeply (…). …between brothers, you know, there are ups and downs.”

On January 8, the shock announcement from Sussex calling for more freedom added even more fuel to the fire as Prince William would have known only minutes before the public. Like the rest of the royal family… “Maybe they [Meghan and Harry] didn’t think about the ins and outs as they should have, but they wanted to be happy,” the People source said Wednesday. Who can blame them? This decision has been weighing on them for a long time, and they’re relieved that they did it. A weight has been lifted off their shoulders.”

Hiking, yoga and cooking

The Thousand Flowers Villa was only supposed to be their holiday home for the holiday season, but in the end, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Archie continue to live in this beautiful home on Vancouver Island. Although barricaded to protect themselves from the paparazzi, the little family would enjoy their new life away from Buckingham: “They both love being outdoors and love being there. They enjoy a quiet life. They take long walks, do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They’re real homemakers who love spending time with Archie and the dogs.” The canids in question are Bogart and Oz, the beagle that Meghan has lived with for many years, and Oz, the labradoodle that the couple adopted after they were married.

While recharging their batteries, the Sussex’s are actively preparing for their professional reconversion: a production company, a partnership with Disney, a return to the camera for the former actress, a new foundation inspired by that of the Obamas and Clintons… So many projects that the couple would seriously consider. “A lot of things are gonna happen for them in 2020, and it’s gonna be really exciting to see.”
