With March 7, the date of the broadcast of the interview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with Oprah Winfrey, approaching, the CBS channel tries to raise the sauce. After revealing two first crisp trailers – including the harassment of the paparazzi and Princess Diana – the television network shares previously unreleased images. In this new campaign, the Duchess of Sussex seems to revisit the difficulties she experienced during her foray into the British royal family. “I don’t know how they could have expected us to remain silent after all this time,” she says. “If the Firm is playing an active role in spreading misconceptions about us, and if it comes with the idea of losing things… we’ve already lost a lot.”

Cryptic phrases that now raise the question of their meaning. While some observers thought the couple would be careful not to hurt the British Crown, it may be that the Duchess of Sussex decided not to leave anything under the carpet. Whether it was tensions with certain members of the royal family – notably Kate Middleton – or her difficult adjustment within a constrained system. Another option also considered: Prince Harry’s wife would use these two sentences to evoke her fight against the British media, which have constantly spread false rumours about her.

War against the tabloids

For several months, she was at war with the Associated Newspapers group, parent company of the British tabloids The Mail on Sunday and The Mail Online. These two media outlets released excerpts from a private letter written to her father, Thomas Markle, in August 2018. Meghan Markle has taken them to court and recently won her case. Stubbornly, little Archie’s mother will have to continue to fight against the increasing number of attacks against them.

Because the Times has just revealed that three of her former collaborators accuse her of having had a “totally unacceptable” and “humiliating” behavior towards her staff, when she was working at Kensington Palace. Serious facts that the main interested party has denied altogether. The fact remains that these last revelations place the interview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in a particular context, also marked by the hospitalization of Prince Philip. So many elements that should again play against the former Suits actress.
