Meghan Markle vigilant against social networks: a fight close to her heart

This Tuesday, July 14, Meghan Markle gave a keynote address that was noticed at the Girl Up Virtual Summit. It was an opportunity for the Duchess of Sussex, who is connected from California, to talk about a number of causes close to her heart, including the power of the Internet and social networks.

A very committed opening speech. From Los Angeles, where she is based with Prince Harry and their son Archie, Meghan Markle was invited to give the opening speech at the Girl Up virtual summit. The Duchess of Sussex joined her friend Priyanka Chopra, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and several other charismatic women to make her voice heard.

Meghan Markle spoke fervently about a number of causes close to her heart as our colleagues from Town and Country reported: from the impact of young people on the world, to racial equality and the Black Lives Matter movement, to climate change and the power of the internet.

A tool that she wanted to highlight its qualities as well as its shortcomings, calling her audience to be wary. “The internet has the power to affirm and support as much as it does harm, but we are not supposed to destroy each other; we are supposed to build each other up,” the Duchess of Sussex stressed.

Your voices are those of the truth

Echoing her own experience, Meghan Marke said: “There will always be negative voices and sometimes those voices can sound overwhelming, and sometimes painfully loud.

You can and will use your own voices to muffle the noise. Because that’s what it is: just noise. But your voices are the voices of truth. And hope. And your voices can and should be much louder,” said Prince Harry’s wife.

Little Archie’s mother knows how much criticism can hurt. Meghan Markle herself has been the target of many hateful comments on social networks, especially during her pregnancy.

The Duchess of Sussex feels she has little support from the firm and has now distanced herself from the British royal family, which is considered too cold and not very understanding. From Los Angeles, she leads the fight and calls for the benevolence and respect of everyone.
