Meghan Markle: Suicidal ideation, shame her friend Jessica Mulroney thought the worst

Jessica Mulroney, who has been cut out of Meghan Markle’s life since she was accused of racism, went through a period of severe depression that almost cost her her life.

Jessica Mulroney has hit rock bottom. After the death of George Floyd during an arraignment on Monday, May 25 in the United States, Meghan Markle’s best friend had been accused of racism by Sasha Exeter. The blogger had pointed out the Canadian designer’s silence around the anti-racism fight supported by the Black Lives Matter movement.

The young woman responded with threats, promising to end the career of the influencer and take her to court. These statements had added fuel to the fire since Sasha Exeter had insisted that her interlocutor was “well aware of her wealth, power and privilege due to her skin color”.

This scandal caused Jessica Mulroney to lose her contract with Good Morning America, to stop broadcasting her program I Do, Redo on the Canadian channel CTV, but also the end of her friendship with Prince Harry’s wife who turned her back on her, and a deep depression…

In a first interview with The Post, relayed by Page Six, Jessica Mulroney expressed her feelings on this subject, feeling: “I still feel a lot of shame. I feel that people believe the worst about me.” Confidences confirmed by her friends who revealed that the 40-year-old marketing consultant had been put on heavy antidepressants.

“Jessica has been dealing with a lot of anxiety since she was 12 years old,” said a source close to Meghan Markle’s former BFF. He continued, “Anxiety has turned into severe depression and suicidal thoughts.” During Jessica Mulroney’s particularly dark period, her mother came to take care of her.

“Jess couldn’t talk without crying. She no longer felt like herself on medication, and she didn’t want to talk to anyone. She could barely respond to a text message,” her friend added. Her husband, Ben, was also very worried about her sweetheart. “I woke up and Jess wasn’t in bed, and I thought the worst,” he told our colleagues.

It hurts

Jessica Mulroney, who received tons of insulting messages after her slip-up, has come clean about the controversy, admitting that she was hurt by the companies that let her down. “I found it hard to deal with the fact that a network like CTV [and] the companies I’ve worked with for many years – and journalists, some of whom were friends of mine – were talking with incredible authority about what they thought was happening without even contacting me. I think that’s what hurts the most,” she said.

Meghan and Jessica’s relationship was on the rocks

While this story set the Duchess of Sussex and her former girlfriend on fire, a source close to Archie’s mother assured the Post that the two women had been estranged long before. “The friendship between Markle and Mulroney isn’t what it once was, but it’s not because of [Exeter]. They’ve just separated. Of course, Meghan was worried about Jess.

She will always have love for her,” the source said. Since then, Mulroney has reduced her medication, as reported by her friends. She focuses on her charity work, and tries to look on the bright side of life: “I know I have a lovely life,” she acknowledged, before continuing: “I have to learn from all this – but I’m not a racist. I just want to try to move on.”
