According to a recent poll, an overwhelming majority of Britons would like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to be stripped of all their royal titles after their extremely juicy contract with Netflix.
The decisions made by the Sussex couple could cost them dearly. According to a recent poll conducted by L’Express in the United Kingdom, 96% of the British people questioned (9,335 people) would like the titles of Duke and Duchess to be permanently taken away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The reason for their anger? The recent $150 million contract signed by the Sussex couple with Netflix, thanks to which they will be able to offer documentaries, films or programs, especially for children. While this new adventure is delighting the former royal couple, it is also making the Crown’s aficionados’ hair stand on end, demanding that Queen Elizabeth II take a radical decision.
“I believe that the monarchy is threatened until the Queen and Parliament take steps to sever all official ties with this couple,” wrote one participant in the poll. “It’s ironic that they don’t want to submit to their royal obligations, but they’re very happy to capitalize on their status,” lamented another Briton.
By signing the contract, the Sussex couple ignored the authority of Queen Elizabeth II, causing a wave of unsubscriptions on the platform, while several users were keen to show their displeasure with Netflix’s decision.
Do they really deserve this contract?
After the announcement of this incredible collaboration, the languages were loosened, including that of TV host Jane Moore, who expressed her strong irritation. “Do they really deserve this contract? No, end of conversation. It really irritates me.
I’m a writer myself. I know there are so many young producers out there trying to make their mark, who would like to work with Netflix. They got this contract because of their names, not because they proved what they could do,” she said.
Despite constant criticism from their critics, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry seem determined to live their new life as they see fit, under the Santa Barbara sun where they finally feel fulfilled. And so much for the price they pay…
