Megxit, hospitalization of Prince Philip, Elizabeth II an iron Queen

The last few weeks have been particularly trying for Elizabeth II who, faced with the hospitalization of Prince Philip and the officialization of the Megxit, would not be at her best.

At the height of her 94th birthday, Elizabeth II is not sparing herself. If the beginning of the year 2021 had started rather well for the monarch, who welcomed her eleventh great-grandchild on February 9, her happiness was short-lived.

And with good reason! On February 17, her husband, Prince Philip, aged 99, was hospitalized due to “a malaise”. And as a misfortune never happens alone, the following day, Meghan Markle and Harry, her favorite grandson, confirmed that they would not return as active members of the royal family. The queen would be overwhelmed, and would be on the edge of her seat today.

“These last few weeks have been difficult for the queen, that’s for sure,” said a source close to the royal family. He added: “The whole thing with Harry and Meghan has been complicated, and on top of that, she is distraught by the health problems of her beloved husband. An inextricable situation that pushed Elizabeth II to the limit. “The Queen had moments of tears mixed with anger and disappointment,” confirms an intimate.

Happy end?

If the last few days have been particularly trying for the monarch, the next few weeks look bright. Treated for “an infection”, Prince Philip “feels well and responds well to treatment”, announced Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, February 23.

For his part, Prince Harry, worried about his grandfather, is said to have regained contact with his family. A small step in the right direction for the Firm, with whom relations have been tense to say the least in recent months. Finally, the queen will again see her family growing in the coming weeks as Zara Tindall and Meghan Markle are expecting their second and third child respectively in 2021.
