Meghan Markle: Why she refuses to return to social networks

Meghan Markle chose to withdraw from the internet sphere, detailing the reasons for her absence in an interview with Fortune magazine.

Before the British Royal Family, Meghan Markle ran The Tig, a lifestyle blog in which she shared her life, advice and current trends. A Twitter account and an Instagram account were followed by millions of internet users when she announced her relationship with Prince Harry through a press release published by Kensington Palace in November 2016. A popularity of which Meghan Markle is fully aware.

After years in the spotlight, little Archie’s mother is leaving the UK. Meghan and Harry close their Instagram Sussex Royal account, and their presence becomes increasingly rare. A choice of the Duchess of Sussex, as she explained in an interview with Fortune magazine: “It’s been a long time since I’ve used social networks to preserve myself. A few years ago, I had a personal account which I closed, and another one through our institution and our office in the UK which was not managed by us alone but by the whole team,” she said.

Protecting her family

Meghan Markle recalled the weight of women’s voices on the web: “Your voice matters. You realise it even more when you don’t use it anymore. No matter how much experience I have had over the last few years, compared to anyone else’s experience, you cannot take for granted the ability of women to be heard, and now through these platforms people can be heard by a wider audience, so I feel the responsibility is all the greater”.

Meghan Markle explained that she meticulously chooses the topics to protect her family, especially her son Archie. “I am careful not to endanger my family,” she said. A considerate mother!
