Four years ago to the day, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement to the world. On the occasion of this anniversary, the Briton surprised his wife with a superb gift: a ring with a very special meaning.
That was four years ago today. On November 27, 2016, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently pushing the royal family to the limit, revealed to the world that they were to become husband and wife. To celebrate this fourth anniversary, Prince Harry didn’t do things by halves. He gave his wife a beautiful ring … which has a sense of déjà vu. This is Meghan’s original engagement ring, which the Duke of Sussex redesigned and had modified: it is now thinner, as revealed by the Mirror this November 27, to better match the wedding ring of the duchess. The change certainly occurred when Meghan Markle was pregnant with Lilibet and could no longer wear the jewelry, says the British media.
This is not the first time Meghan Markle’s engagement ring has been altered. Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand reveal in the biography Finding Freedom that the prince had already had gems added for their first wedding anniversary in May 2019. A peridot, a sapphire and an emerald, which represent the birthstones of Meghan, Harry and Archie, came to embellish the jewelry two and a half years ago. With this original ring we will not be able to say, for once, that the Sussex couple copied Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Originally, the ring is made of yellow gold elevated with a main stone purchased in Botswana by Prince Harry, and two small diamonds on each side from the jewelry collection of his mother, Princess Diana. “It’s to make sure she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” Meghan Markle’s husband explained at the time.
