Former yoga teacher, Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, has been appointed director of a retirement home. A promotion that some say was favoured by her daughter.
It’s no secret to fans of Meghan Markle that the Duchess of Sussex is very close to her mother, Doria Ragland. So much so that some say that Meghan and Harry have decided to move to Los Angeles after the Megxit to be closer to her, who also lives there.
Moreover, the Sussex did not fail to reserve him a room in their new villa in Santa Monica. But these strong ties would no longer be limited to the private sphere anymore, since Doria Ragland may have benefited from a push from her daughter to get a rather unexpected promotion.
The 64-year-old former yoga instructor has been appointed general and financial director of a Beverly Hills retirement home, the Daily Mail reports. As Doria Ragland’s contract states, the steps were reportedly taken by Meghan Markle and Harry’s lawyer Rick Genow, who specializes in representing movie stars.
“This is not the usual kind of business that Rick Genow deals with,” confirmed a business expert to the Sunday Express, adding: “When you’re as well known as Meghan and her family, you can understand why they’re keeping a low profile.
An atypical career path
Doria Ragland’s own background did not seem to predestine her for this new position. After leaving her job as a social worker in a psychiatric clinic in 2018, Meghan Markle’s mother taught yoga and jewelry at a community college in Los Angeles. Prior to that, Doria Ragland also worked as a makeup artist on the General Hospital series, where she met Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, then lighting director. A rather atypical resume, which led some to cry favoritism.
