Meghan Markle: budget reduction! What she had to do without in 2020

In 2020, because of the “Megxit”, Meghan Markle had to make financial concessions. And what was her main expense item took a big hit.

By leaving the royal family of England, Meghan Markle had to make a cross on the budget reserved for her wardrobe. When she married Prince Harry, she benefited, like Kate Middleton, from the fund provided for this purpose and financed by Prince Charles (with the profits made on the Duchy of Cornwall).

In 2019, she took full advantage of it and paraded all year long in luxury outfits: Dior, Givenchy, Chanel and many others. But in 2020, everything changed for her. Her life choices have had an impact on her clothing budget.

According to our sources, Meghan Markle wore nearly 240,000 euros worth of clothes, hats and other accessories in 2019. A budget already halved compared to 2018 when her extravagance had been much criticized.

In 2020, taking into account only the new outfits (she sometimes wore the same clothes again to save money), the total cost of her wardrobe amounted to about 50,000 euros, according to estimates from our sources.

A 15,700 euro outfit to say goodbye to England

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry chose to be financially independent from the royal family. They therefore had no other option than to be careful with their clothing budget.

Despite this, the Duchess of Sussex decided to pack her bags for her farewell tour of the United Kingdom last March. Her most expensive “outfit” cost her £14,000, or about 15,700 euros! Since living in the United States, Meghan Markle has been dressing more modestly for her public appearances.
