On Saturday 6 February, Meghan Markle and Harry joined a virtual poetry class. A surprise visit much appreciated by the participants.

While they have been rather discreet lately, Meghan Markle and Harry made a surprise appearance this weekend, Saturday 6th February. The Duke and Duchess invited themselves among young poets, aged between 13 and 19, during their poetry class by videoconference.

This was organised, as every Saturday, by the association Get Lit, whose aim is to give free voice to amateurs. The course was dedicated to Black History Month – the month of Black History in French – celebrated since 1976 in the United States. The couple listened to the students’ productions live from their home in Los Angeles.

An unexpected visit which was very much appreciated by all, as shown in the screenshot taken during the course by the association. In the legend of this one, in which the participants cannot hide their joy, it is stated that it was “the most epic experience in the history of Get Lit” so far, but also that “Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were magical and kind and interested in poetry”. Kate Middleton’s sister-in-law also took the floor to “share her favourite verses”.

So unreal

The pupils in this virtual classroom are still in shock. “It’s so unreal. It’s crazy to think that they were there, listening… Thank you for organising this. It’s so incredible,” said one of them. Another writes: “I first asked myself, ‘Am I dreaming?’ I feel so honoured to have been able to meet them and discuss with them the importance of poetry in today’s world. It was a moment of sharing that allowed Meghan Markle and Harry to put aside the rumours that are currently circulating about them.
