According to “Finding Freedom”, the new book about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Queen Elizabeth II refused to receive the couple before their announcement to leave the royal family.
On August 11th, “Finding Freedom” will be published, a book which will include the reasons for the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family.
In this already much-anticipated book, some excerpts of which have been published in the Times and Sunday Times, the whole world will be able to better understand the couple’s departure.
In this book, rather favourable to the couple, the journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have thus revealed the background to the departure of the Sussex from the royal family.
According to them, William’s brother sent an e-mail to Queen Elizabeth II and his father, Prince Charles, to inform them of his intention to renounce his royal duties. An e-mail to arrange a meeting with the Queen and thus confide to her his desire to leave England and become “financially independent”.
Harry wanted to break protocol
However, according to “Finding Freedom”, the Queen did not comply with this request, refusing to see her grandson and his wife. A disappointment, one can imagine, for Prince Harry who, as he left Heathrow airport by car, would have even thought of going directly to see Elizabeth II, at Sandringham, in order to ask for a confrontation and to “plead their cause”.
A breach of protocol, which Prince Charles’ son would finally have renounced, believing that this initiative would “ruffle the feathers” of his detractors. “At this stage, they felt they had already had this conversation on several occasions during the year with members of the royal family,” a close relative of the couple confided to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. They were tired of not being taken seriously.”
While the situation would have “hurt” the Queen, it would have further damaged the relationship between Meghan Markle, Harry and Queen Elizabeth II.
Archie’s parents, therefore, had not warned the monarch before their shocking announcement on January 8th. An announcement that was heavily criticized at the time and still is today.
