Meghan and Prince Harry could choose Oprah Winfrey as godmother for their daughter Lilibet

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have not yet revealed who are the godparents of their daughter Lilibet Diana. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Oprah Winfrey confided that she is in any case “godmother by default”.

It’s been three weeks since the Sussex family has grown. On June 4, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their second child: a baby girl they named Lilibet Diana. The royal baby girl was born in the greatest discretion in the late morning, at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, located in California. It is finally two days later that the happy parents announced the news, in a press release, on the website of their foundation Archewell. For the time being, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have not yet revealed the face of their daughter and enjoy their new family life away from the media and social networks.

For the moment, the godparents of Lilibet Diana are not yet known. For several weeks or even months, speculations have been going on between tennis player Serena Williams, journalist Gayle King or actor Patrick J. Adams. The name of Oprah Winfrey is also circulating a lot, and the host came out of silence on this subject. “I don’t need to be a godmother, I’m a godmother by default. I’m a neighbor, I’m a friend, and all that… You probably need someone younger to be the godmother,” the couple’s close friend told Entertainment Tonight, reports the Mirror.

Oprah Winfrey the perfect Godmother?

It must be said that the role of godmother seemed like an obvious one for Oprah Winfrey. “If one of the godparents is Oprah – and I’m not saying it is – it’s understandable that they might want to keep it to themselves, given that the mere fact that Oprah was doing their interview was controversial enough in itself,” journalist and royal biographer Omid Scobie had explained to The Sun.

Shortly before, a person close to Meghan Markle had made other confidences with Heat World. “Meghan thinks Oprah would be the perfect godmother for her daughter. She wants her daughter to be surrounded by strong female role models and Oprah totally fits that. She has been a real support to her and Harry since they moved to California and Meghan knows she can count on her, no matter what,” we learned.
