THE CORONAVIRUS IS UPSETTING THE PLANS OF THE BRITISH ROYAL FAMILY. FOUR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS WERE SUPPOSED TO TAKE PLACE THIS APRIL, BUT THEY FELL THROUGH. QUEEN ELIZABETH, PRINCE CHARLES AND THE CAMBRIDGE FAMILY WILL HAVE TO CELEBRATE IN SMALL GROUPS.

April was supposed to be festive, but the coronavirus decided otherwise. Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton were to have birthdays and wedding anniversaries, as they do every year. Separated throughout the United Kingdom, they changed their plans and will celebrate these moments in small groups.

The first family event will take place on Thursday 9 April: on this date, it will be 15 years since Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles said “yes” to each other. Both confined to Scotland, they will finally be able to celebrate it as a duo as Prince Charles, formerly afflicted with coronavirus, is now cured. Twelve days later, Elizabeth II will be in the spotlight, and on Tuesday 21 April, the monarch will celebrate her 94th birthday. Confined to Windsor Castle with Prince Philip, she will celebrate in very small groups. No doubt her children and grandchildren will send her their best wishes. A nice moment that will relax her, less than two weeks after giving a historic crisis speech.

Two days after the matriarch, one of the last grandchildren of the royal family will blow out the candles. Prince Louis will celebrate his second birthday on Thursday, April 23rd. In the Cambridge country house, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, he will taste the cake lovingly prepared by his mother. Kate Middleton revealed last December that for each birthday she spends part of the night in the ovens preparing the most beautiful cake possible.

This busy month will close with Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nine-year wedding anniversary on Wednesday, April 29. Once again, they will surely celebrate it with their three children in the simplicity of their second home. Next year, they will surely be able to celebrate their pewter wedding anniversary in the company of their own children. It’s only a postponement.
