This Saturday, June 4, many celebrities performed at a giant concert for the continuation of the festivities of the platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Many members of the royal family were also present to attend the event. However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were missing.

The party continues to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II. After the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday, June 2, then the mass given in her honor at St Paul’s Cathedral and the reception offered at the Guildhall by the Mayor of London on Friday, June 3, the members of the royal family gathered this time for a musical event. Indeed, this Saturday June 4th, a giant concert was organized in front of the gates of Buckingham Palace.

And for the occasion, almost all the relatives of the sovereign were present. Three of Elizabeth II’s four children were seated in the stands: Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and her husband Timothy Laurence, and Prince Edward and his wife Countess Sophie of Wessex. Seven of his eight grandchildren were also there, accompanied by their spouses: Prince William and Kate Middleton, Peter Phillips with his new partner Lindsay Wallace, Zara Phillips and her husband Mike Tindall, Princess Beatrice of York and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank, but also the youngest, still unmarried, Lady Louise Windsor, 18, and James, Viscount Severn, 14.

In contrast, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not make the trip. As explained by people.com, the couple took advantage of the day to celebrate the first birthday of their daughter Lilibet. A moment they wanted to spend in private, as a family.

A plethora of stars have fired up the public during the giant concert organized in honor of the British monarch. The audience could attend the performances of Queen + Adam Lambert in the opening, Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Nile Rodgers, Andrea Bocelli, Duran Duran, the composer of the last James Bond Hans Zimmer, Craig David, or George Ezra. But the real star of the evening, Elizabeth II, had to cancel her appearance once again, due to her poor health. She preferred to watch the concert on television, broadcast live on the BBC. However, the sovereign reserved a nice surprise for her fans because she made a surprise appearance in a short humorous video broadcast before the kick-off, where she takes tea with Paddington, the clumsy bear of British children’s literature.
