Harry and Meghan, new revelations about their deal with Oprah Winfrey

What could have been the deal between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey for this interview seen by over 17 million people? If the couple was not paid, a possible financial deal behind the scenes has just been revealed.

So no, Meghan Markle and Harry were not paid for their truthful interview with Oprah Winfrey but new revelations have been made about their deal. As we can read on the Mail, this March 17, the idea was to promote the documentary series around mental health, Harry and Oprah Winfrey, which will be available in the coming months on Apple TV. A source from Los Angeles, who works with Netflix and Apple, says that this promotion during the Sussexes’ two-hour interview with the famous American presenter was part of Harry’s agreement as co-partner and co-creator of the Apple series.

Oprah Winfrey actually referred to the as-yet-unnamed series during her meeting with the couple. “Harry and I are working on this series about mental health for Apple,” she said in front of the 17 million viewers, who were watching the interview live on CBS. Only moments after Meghan Markle revealed that she had been having suicidal thoughts. “We hear a lot of these stories,” Oprah Winfrey then retorted. So if it is true that Harry and Meghan Markle were not paid for this interview, which caused a lot of noise within the Palace and the world, there is nevertheless a financial agreement between Harry and Apple that would establish this promotional work, and could include this little publicity stunt during the interview.

Harry and Meghan Markle’s career in the United States well and truly launched

A very subtle mention then, well thought out by Oprah Winfrey and her production company Harpo Productions who had full control over the content of the Sussex interview. Another TV PR source, who would have knowledge of Harry and Meghan Markle’s TV and podcast deals assure that having also mentioned Spotify and Netflix was also promotion.

“The interview was powerful, emotional and very personal, but let’s not forget that they are in business now,” the source said. ”Netflix and Spotify have been paying them a lot of money and those deals come with an expectation of promotion.” And this Apple documentary is one of the first projects that sign the Sussexes’ new career in the United States.
