Elizabeth II: Her very original Christmas gift to Archie

The end of year celebrations are approaching fast. And like everyone else, Elizabeth II is looking for the gift that could make her family members happy. Last year, the Queen had a rather original idea for her grandson, Archie.

It’s the final stretch to find Christmas presents, a tradition that the British royal family, starting with Elizabeth II, can’t escape. According to Hello!, the family has a habit of giving each other humorous or practical gifts. Last year, Elizabeth II went all out to spoil her grandson, Archie, the son of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. The Queen reportedly bought a waffle iron for the little boy, as the youngest son of Prince Charles and Diana revealed in an interview on James Corden’s The Late Late Show last February.

“My grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas, and Meg said a waffle iron,” explained the Duke of Sussex, as reported by Hello! this Tuesday, December 14. And to conclude, “She sent a waffle iron for Archie.” A surprising gift for the little boy who was then one and a half years old, but which found all its use since thanks to the device, Meghan would prepare waffles that her son would love. “Now at breakfast, Meghan makes a great organic recipe. She pours it into the machine and it’s ready. He loves it. And me, I have the right to waffles in the morning from now on”, Prince Harry was delighted.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend the holidays in the United States

Once again, it is away from the royal family that Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, will spend Christmas. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to return to the UK for the festive season, which they are expected to spend in their California mansion. This will be a special Christmas for the Queen as it is the first one she will spend without her husband, Prince Philip, who died last April.
