Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth, celebrates his 99th birthday on June 10, 2020. To celebrate the event, the palace has published on Instagram a very touching photo of the royal couple taken last week at Windsor Castle.

It had been more than six months since a photo of Prince Philip had been published. The long wait ended on the occasion of the 99th birthday of Queen Elizabeth’s husband. Buckingham Palace has just published on Instagram a photo of the royal couple taken last week at Windsor Castle.

Prince Philip, as elegant as ever, is wearing a stylish blazer and tie. As for his wife, she shines in a flowered dress from Angela Kelly. A fascinating and very moving shot for this unusual couple.

In recent months, Prince Philip’s health has been a cause for concern. Fears that have been heightened by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has forced the couple to confine themselves strictly to Windsor.

Prince Philip will therefore be spending his birthday in the company of the Queen and does not plan to gather family and friends around a good meal. If both spouses are kept away from their children and grandchildren, he whispers that they will have a second honeymoon.

As an inquisitive gentleman told Vanity Fair last May, Elizabeth and Philip “dine together every night”. It’s an everyday occurrence for most couples, but a real novelty for Windsor residents who don’t live under the same roof for much of the year. Prince Philip lives in his cottage on the Sandringham estate, more than 100 miles from the Queen, usually at Buckingham Palace or Windsor.

One can only be touched by this photo showing a Prince Philip still brave and smiling at almost a hundred years old! A record of longevity for the man who gave up a promising military career to be at his wife’s side when she was crowned at the age of 27. A shadowy man who continues, after 72 years of marriage, to be her first and unfailing support.
