On 9 May, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lawsuit against the tabloid The Mirror begins. The couple accuses the newspaper of having illegally obtained information about their private life. Our confreres in Le Parisien recall that some British newspapers have already been pinned down in other cases for having resorted to various questionable schemes: “hiring private detectives, phone hacking, listening devices in cars and homes, paying police officers in exchange for confidential information, impersonation to obtain medical details, access to bank accounts.” The legal battle between the couple and the British newspaper is expected to last seven weeks. And it is only the first trial of its kind.
Harry versus the press: the prince muzzled by his father?
In a few months’ time, two other lawsuits by Prince Harry against the two most widely read tabloids in the UK, The Sun and The Daily Mail, will begin. Several preliminary hearings have already taken place in the context of these upcoming trials, including one during which Prince Harry made a surprise appearance. He had notably reproached his father Charles III for having asked him in 2019 (when he was not yet King) to stop his legal proceedings against the press, so as not to undermine his desire to rehabilitate Camilla in the media. This is one of the charges that the courts will soon be asked to rule on.

Unfortunately Prince Harry has such a big chip on his shoulder and can’t or won’t see sense, he won’t win. His wife is firing the bullets. That is what I think. The Prince’s pride will make him fall. It is the children I feel sorry for.
Unfortunately he is married to a manipulative person so I can’t see any changes as long as he is with her. She has destroyed the closeness of two brothers. I believe in karma and her day will come big time, evil witch.
But a father, I would encourage him not to sit on his tongue especially where justice is not denied.
