While the annual financial report of the British royal family was unveiled this Wednesday, June 23, we discover that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made a very nice check, last September.
The British have discovered, this Wednesday, June 23, the annual accounts of the royal family. A financial report in which we discover that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have paid a very large sum of money to the royal family last September. This sum, which amounts to $ 3.3 million, is not a gift, however. It is, in fact, the amount of rent of Frogmore Cottage, the royal residence they lived before their departure to the United States. Even if they now live in Los Angeles, the parents of Archie and Lilibet remain tied to this house until March 2022.
The $3.3 million was also used to pay for repairs and renovations to Frogmore Cottage. “This payment covers all their current obligations (…) The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a substantial contribution to the sovereign grant that has covered the costs of renovating Frogmore Cottage,” confirmed Sir Michael Stevens, the royal finance chief, this Wednesday, June 22, at the unveiling of the family’s annual accounts.
Harry and Meghan: a very nice gesture for a royal family diminished by Covid-19
During this meeting with British journalists, Sir Michael Stevens also said that this payment of 3.3 million dollars from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was a great help for the royal family. Indeed, the latter has been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. “It is also worth remembering also that this payment came this year at a time when our additional income has significantly decreased. This sum has helped to offset the decline we have had,” added the royal finance chief. So the royal family says thank you to Meghan and Harry!
