Sophie of Wessex: I hope Meghan Markle and Harry will be happy

Sophie of Wessex didn’t turn her back on Harry and Meghan Markle. In a recent interview, the Countess of Wessex revealed her support for the Duchess and her husband in their decision to continue their life in the United States.

A new ally for Meghan Markle and Harry. While Sophie of Wessex was thought to be against the departure of the Duchess and Duke of Sussex from the British Royal Family in January 2020 – she had dodged the former actress’s gaze at the Commonwealth celebration at Westminster Abbey last March – she openly supported them in an interview with the Sunday Times. Indeed, the wife of Prince Edward of Wessex, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II, said she was for their happiness.

“I just hope they will be happy,” she said, when their departure to America was mentioned. Then Kate Middleton’s great friend explained that she had never ruled out Meghan Markle since she joined the royal family.

“We all try to help any new member of the family,” she said. She was so committed to making Prince Harry’s wife feel comfortable, primarily because she herself was forced to quickly adjust to her new life when she fell in love with Prince Edward several years ago. Some obstacles were harder to overcome than others: they almost separated at the very beginning of their story.

Sophie and Edward de Wessex: the successor to Meghan and Harry?

Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially resigned, Sophie and Edward de Wessex have been at the forefront: like Kate Middleton and Prince William, they have continued to do their best to restore their family’s image. To support them, they even decided to hire an assistant private secretary, based in their home in Bagshot Park in Windsor.

Then, during the health crisis, the Countess mobilized in the field and got involved to help the caregivers. The succession is assured: the Countess is one of the members of the Royal Family to have represented Her Majesty the most since the beginning of the year 2020.
