In his documentary-series The Me You Can’t See, which he co-produced with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry was filmed in the middle of a trauma session to externalize his traumas.

Prince Harry seems ready to do anything to get rid of his demons. After confiding as never before about his mental health in his documentary series The Me You Can’t See unveiled on May 21 on Apple TV and co-produced with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke of Sussex agreed to give himself up in front of the cameras to a trauma session. This one having for objective to help him to overcome his traumatisms and especially to chase them.

Thus after having met the therapist, Sanja Oakley, who followed him in all his process of cure, the dad of Archie underwent an EDMR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This eye movement technique is designed to repair deep wounds by releasing buried thoughts and emotions. With her finger, the specialist stimulates her patient’s eyes in order to reconnect the two cerebral hemispheres, bringing the anxieties to the surface and thus evacuating them.

“EDMR is something I’ve always wanted to try and it was one of the healing techniques I was willing to experiment with. I never would have been open to it if I hadn’t done the work and therapy I’ve done over the years,” Prince Harry admitted. If he agreed to have the session filmed, it is also to encourage people who are in the same situation as him to follow, them too, a therapy. It was his wife Meghan Markle, who encouraged him, four years ago, to consult professionals after a “violent argument”, because she was tired of him “behaving like a 12 year old child. Today, Harry is more grateful than ever to his wife.

Prince Harry without filter on his psychological disorders

During this interview, it is in all transparency that Prince Harry addressed the psychological disorders from which he suffered. He confided in particular to have turned to alcohol and drugs, in his twenties, to cope with the death of his mother Diana. Harry also dropped new bombshells on the royal family. He accused them of failing to empathize with the distress signals he and his wife sent them, before admitting to feeling abandoned by his loved ones.

“I thought my family would help me, but all requests, requests, signals have met with silence or total indifference” he lamented. Finally, the youngest son of Prince Charles returned to his youth with his father, who was often very hard, questioning the education that he gave him. So many difficult memories that have motivated his decision to go into exile in the United States with his half and his son.
