Less than a month before his coronation, Charles III has taken a radical decision. According to information reported by the Mirror on Wednesday 12 April, the new monarch has forbidden the television cameras present to film the “most sacred” part of the event. Explanations.

A new twist! After learning that Prince Harry would be going alone to the coronation of King Charles III on 6 May, the Mirror reported that the new monarch had taken an important decision, less than a month before the historic event. According to information released on Wednesday 12 April, Camilla’s husband has forbidden the television cameras present on that day to film the “most sacred” part of the ceremony, in other words “the moment when he is anointed with holy oil”, before being officially crowned in Westminster Abbey. Initially, the monarch had thought about standing behind a transparent sheet, but he obviously did an about-face. As reported by the Mirror, the son of Elizabeth II chose to “hide from the public” during this important and symbolic step.

As reported by the Mirror, “a Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed last night that television cameras would not show the king’s sacred anointing. In making this decision, Charles III, who has shaken up many traditions since the beginning of his reign, “takes his role and relationship (with God) very seriously and will continue with the anointing as it has been done before in its entirety,” observed a royal source. And our confrères underline: “Until the 17th century, the sovereign was considered to be appointed directly by God and this was confirmed by the anointing ceremony.” Like Queen Elizabeth II before him, Charles III therefore wanted this very sacred moment to remain intimate.

Meghan Markle’s absence from the coronation of Charles III: reason revealed

After months of speculation, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, who were both invited to the coronation of Charles III, have finally announced their decision. In a statement published on Wednesday 12 April, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King’s youngest son will be coming to London on 6 May. However, he will not be accompanied by his wife or their children, Archie and Lilibet, who will remain in California. On Twitter, journalist Omid Scobie, who is always close to the Crown’s exiles, detailed the reason for this significant absence. “I understand that Archie’s fourth birthday (also May 6) played a role in the couple’s decision,” Omid Scobie reported. “We should expect a fairly quick trip to the UK for Prince Harry, who will only attend the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey,” the Finding Freedom author said. So, will William’s brother pop over to England? The answer is next month.

  1. Why is the king not allowing the nation to view all of the coronation ? I will not watch any of it he will upset a lot of people I’m sure the late Queen Elizabeth would want it to be filmed as part of our royal history.

  2. Queen Elizabeth was the first monarch to have her coronation filmed and the anointing with the sacred oil is done under a canopy and always has been throughout history. He wants it to still be a sacred moment. It takes a very short time and the rest of it will be in full view. It is his coronation surely he is allowed to have it his way
