Harry and Meghan out of Frogmore Cottage: what if they were looking to get the renovation money back?

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have been asked to return the keys to their British property of Frogmore Cottage, which they received as a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth II. The couple had spent several million to renovate the building to their taste, a sum they intend to recover.

It was thought that he had remained silent, but it was only an appearance. King Charles III has indeed responded to the attacks and criticism of his youngest son, Prince Harry, following the publication of his controversial memoirs. If royal commentators were expecting an attack on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s noble titles, it is their home that the monarch has attacked: Frogmore Cottage.

The mansion, located near Windsor Castle, is their main residence on British soil since 2019. Property of the Crown, it had been given to them by Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding gift. Wishing to make it their family home, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had taken care to renovate the building to their taste. Renovations that had at the time caused controversy because of their cost: 2.4 million dollars at the expense of British taxpayers. A sum that the couple paid back after retiring from their royal duties, but that they would now like to recover.

Prince Andrew changes the game

If they can no longer benefit from the house, which they consider the “only safe place” where they can reside with their children on British soil, the Sussexes would like to be reimbursed for the amount of renovations they finally paid for with their own money. The Telegraph reports that “negotiations” have been underway for nearly two months, but a new element is now weighing in the balance in favor of the Sussexes: Frogmore Cottage should not remain uninhabited for long since the house has already been promised to Prince Andrew. A detail that Buckingham Palace had failed to specify when they informed Meghan and Harry that they had to return the keys, but which has its importance for them. There is no question for the youngest son of Lady Di to have paid for renovations that would benefit the one who is considered the pariah of the family since his involvement in the Epstein affair.

  1. They have been offered Andrews old flat in Buck Palace Meghan has got what she wanted a Palace address and as no Royals live in Buck Palace no net flix scoop and no chance of bumping into the Prince and Princess of Wales by ‘chance ‘. The King has played another blinder as at the same time giving the Sussex’s no ammo and they have been coralled. I bet they are not in Coronation procession either
