Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have taken another step in the launch of their Archewell Foundation by launching the official Archewell website. But one detail is puzzling.
Announced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last April, the launch of their Archewell Foundation finally seems to be on track after having been postponed so many times. On Tuesday, October 20, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially launched the website of this new organization, which they were forced to launch following their departure from the royal family.
An opportunity to learn more about this non-profit organization? Not really. Because the site in question – to be discovered at archewell.com – cultivates the mystery…
No need to try to click or scroll. For the time being, archewell.com only offers its visitors a home page. And the homepage itself provides little information. The name of the foundation is first written there in capital letters and in black on a beige background.
Its meaning is explained just below. Forbidden to use the brand Sussex Royal by Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan and Harry chose the name Archewell. A wink obviously to their son Archie. But as the new site explains, it is also a combination of the words “Arch” which in ancient Greek means “source of action” and “well”, “an inexhaustible supply or source; a place from which one can draw”.
A very mysterious foundation
But it is another detail that particularly catches the eye, and intrigues, on this minimalist homepage. Meghan and Harry give users the opportunity to subscribe to a mailing list. And this registration is a condition for being able to find out about Archewell’s projects and activities. A culture of the strangest secrecy for an organization that wants to be charitable.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be trying to play the card of caution in the face of the many obstacles and malicious actions that their foundation project has undergone since the announcement of its launch.
Banned from using the Sussex Royal brand, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have just unveiled the name of their new philanthropic association. A name that was not chosen at random.
It’s a project that has been close to their hearts for a long time.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who have given up the title of Sussex since distancing themselves from the royal family, have just announced the launch of a new brand “Archewell”. A name that was not chosen at random since it refers to their son Archie. Prince William’s brother and his sister-in-law took the opportunity to confide to the Daily Telegraph that the Greek word for “Ark”, meaning “source of action”, had inspired them to choose the name for their first child.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were forced to publicize the name of their foundation following the revelations of the Daily Telegraph. The newspaper announced that the documents concerning their new trademark had been filed during the month of March but that the project had been stopped by the coronavirus epidemic. “Like you, our goal is to support efforts to fight the global Covid-19 pandemic, but faced with the revelation of this information, we felt obliged to share the story of the brand,” said the son of Prince Charles and his daughter-in-law.
We want to do something that matters
“Before Sussex Royal came the idea of Arche. This concept of a charity that we hoped to build one day became the inspiration for our son’s name. We want to do something about it, something that matters,” they said, before adding, “Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action with another that evokes the deep resources we all need to draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right.
So, it is very soon that this charitable organization will see the light of day. Its goal? Training and education through documentaries, podcasts and books. The couple also wants to develop a volunteer network and a website. In the meantime, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who have taken refuge in their second home in Los Angeles, intend to enjoy, as much as they can, the precious moments they share with their son.
Meanwhile, other members of the royal family remain confined to their respective estates in the United Kingdom. Queen Elizabeth II, who delivered a speech in support of the British on Sunday, March 5, took up residence with Prince Philip at Windsor Castle. Prince Charles, for his part, is slowly recovering from coronavirus, while Prince William and Kate Middleton assume the role of royal couple.
