Meghan Markle and Harry have finally repaid the renovation of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the property they occupied before Mexgit and their departure for the United States. Their new deal with Netflix helps them become financially self-sufficient, so that they will soon no longer be dependent on the British crown.
By leaving for the United States, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had left a very salty bill behind them… Installed in Frogmore Cottage after having left Kensington Palace, the couple of Sussex had renovated at great expense the old building which fell in ruins. A total of $3 million had been spent, all at taxpayers’ expense.
A project which had made people grind their teeth, all the more so since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had finally packed their bags and headed for Canada, then the United States, declaring that they no longer wished to be active members of the royal family… But the couple had not seen fit to settle their debts before his departure. The polemic grew in magnitude in the last weeks. It is now a done deal, the Sussex have paid the bill.
It must be said that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just hit the jackpot. A contract that would be close to 150 million dollars signed with Netflix, to produce documentaries on the streaming platform. A nice coup for the couple who intend to quickly become financially independent.
Their goal since the Megxit: no longer depend on the British crown and be able to move forward freely. According to People, the couple would no longer receive any money from Prince Charles, income generated by the Duchy of Cornwall. Apart from a not negligible help for the purchase of their immense property located in Santa Barbara, Prince Harry would not receive any more financial assistance from his father.
Owing nothing to anyone
It was an opportunity for the couple to fly on their own and complete their projects without the constant admonitions of the Windsor’s. And to prepare serenely for the future… When Prince Charles takes the throne, Prince William, Prince Harry’s brother, will inherit the Duchy of Cornwall.
It is out of the question for the youngest, who has been in conflict with his elder for months, to beg for financial help from his brother. If relations between the two brothers warm up, they will not be interested. No, definitively, Meghan Markle and Harry seem determined to go it alone, even if it means turning their backs on the royal family and sweeping away any possible return.
