Trooping the Colour, the renowned ceremony held to celebrate the British monarch’s birthday, is set to take place on 17th June. However, amidst ongoing rumors and speculations, the question remains: Has Prince Harry been invited to attend?
While Prince William diligently prepares to participate in the Trooping the Colour military parade on horseback, as highlighted in our previous article on 10th June, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in for yet another disappointment. According to reports from the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not received an invitation to the parade scheduled for 17th June.
Each year, as mid-June approaches, the British populace eagerly anticipates the Trooping the Colour event, traditionally held on the second Saturday of the month, to commemorate the reigning monarch’s birthday. Notably, this will mark the first time Prince Harry will be absent from this celebrated occasion, as British media recalls that Queen Elizabeth II (who passed away in September 2022) extended an invitation to the Sussexes to attend the event in 2022.
Widening Rifts and Growing Tensions
Trooping the Colour holds a significant place in British history, dating back to 1748 during the reign of King George II of Hanover. This military parade was established to honor the sovereign’s birthday, with its name referencing the spectacle of line infantry battalions “trooping around their colours,” as reported by Point de vue. Since 1820, it has been an annual tradition, with King Edward VII officially designating June as the month for the parade. Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II attended the event every year, except for 1955 due to a rail strike, as Point de vue reminds us.
Recently, Prince Harry made headlines appearing isolated during the court case against Mirror Group Newspapers, where he joined other prominent figures on 6th and 7th June. The Daily Mail highlights that he had no contact with his brother or father during the proceedings. This exclusion further indicates the deepening divide between Prince Harry and the British royal family. A source told the British media, “I’m afraid it’s a reflection of the current state of relations.”
