During the unveiling of the statue for the 60th anniversary of Lady Diana this July 1, Princes Harry and William had an exchange for the least surprising.
A surprising conversation. Gathered to unveil the statue in effigy of their late mother, Lady Diana, in Kensington, this July 1st, the two brothers exchanged a few words before discovering the work of sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. No, Princes William and Harry did not address the recent allegations made in the media at the risk of ruining this beautiful day in tribute to their mother. On the contrary, the inauguration took place in a rather relaxed atmosphere, as one lip reader explained to the Daily Mail.
According to lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman, the two brothers took a very different approach to the unveiling after receiving advice on how to remove the veil on the statue. While Prince Harry reassured his older brother, “Everything will be fine,” Prince William responded, “I wouldn’t want anything to go wrong, it’s important that we unveil it properly.” With the statue in effigy of their mother unveiled without a hitch, the jovial Duke of Sussex declared, “We did it!” Delighted, he exclaimed, “Wow. Isn’t that amazing?” An emotional Prince William added, “What a revelation.”
Harry and William reunited for Lady Diana’s 60th birthday
The brothers put their personal animosity aside at the private ceremony this July 1. Before the festivities began, the dukes reportedly had the opportunity to briefly chat privately, on a topic that proved particularly unifying. According to the Daily Mail, a conversation would have taken place by SMS, on an unexpected subject.
While England beat Germany in the round of 16 of the Euro, Prince William and Harry would have been pleased with the results of the match, to the point of putting aside their differences for a few messages. But the duo also planned to discuss in private after the event. A meeting that could be decisive.
