On May 6, Charles III will be officially crowned. Although he is at odds with the members of the Firm, his son Harry could attend. However, he would then be deprived of an honor reserved for active members of the British royal family, reports The Mail on Sunday, January 22.

Could Prince Harry one day resume his royal duties? On January 8, two days before the publication of his explosive memoirs Spare (The Substitute, in French), the youngest son of Charles III and Lady Di had given an interview to journalist Anderson Cooper for the channels ITV News and CBS News. Meghan Markle’s husband, who lives in California, did not seem willing to return to the traditions and protocol of Buckingham Palace. When asked, “Can you envision the day when you return as a full-time member of the royal family?” he had replied, “No.” Before adding, “I want a family, not an institution.”

Then he had confided, “I would like my father back. I would like my brother back.” However, despite this outstretched hand, Archie and Lilibet’s dad had said he regretted that those close to him had put the stability of the Crown ahead of the well-being of his family, playing the game of a certain press. Despite the events that led him to distance himself from his clan, leaving England for the United States, the brother of Prince William could attend the coronation of his father on May 6. But if this were the case, he would be deprived of an honor reserved for active members of the British royal family, reports The Mail on Sunday, January 22.

Persona non grata on the balcony of Buckingham

Through a statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Saturday 21 January that the festivities related to the coronation of Charles III will begin on May 6, and then spread over three days. On the first day, the king and queen consort, Camilla Parker Bowles, will arrive at Westminster Abbey from Buckingham Palace in a procession. After the ceremony, the royal couple will return to Buckingham, where they will be joined by other members of the British royal family.

To conclude this first day, Charles III and his wife will appear on the palace balcony to greet the crowd. They will be accompanied by several members of the Firm. The list of people allowed to join them will be limited to the so-called active members of the family, continues The Mail on Sunday. In other words, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, as well as Prince Andrew, who no longer hold official positions, will be excluded.
