With rumours circulating that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could make their return to the UK in the next few months, some royal pundits are taking a dim view of this turn of events.
Are Harry and Meghan ready to leave the beaches of California for the double-decker buses of London? For a few days now, rumours have been circulating that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be returning to the UK and coming back to work for the Firm. The reason for this theory? A phone call from Charles III’s youngest son to his older brother, in which he asked if he could resume his place in the royal family.
However, since the uproar that followed the Megxit, the Oprah Winfrey interview, the release of the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan and, finally, the publication of Prince Harry’s memoirs, The Substitute, the Windsors are thinking twice about this hypothesis. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would risk real “humiliation” if they retraced their steps and rejoined the British royal family. “It would be one of the most bizarre events in royal history, if they came back after all these attacks,” Fitzwilliams assured GB News in an interview. It would be a humiliation for Meghan and Harry.”
Why would Harry and Meghan leave Hollywood?
In California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer have the wind in their sails. After being snubbed by the Emmy Awards for their documentary series Harry & Meghan, the parents of Archie and Lilibet find themselves distraught and are even reportedly experiencing funding problems. For the couple, this disappointment came after the cancellation of their very lucrative contract with Spotify. Just as Meghan Markle seemed to be preparing her big comeback as an actress, Prince Harry’s wife may have to put her projects on hold. But does this mean the rebirth of the Fab Four? Unlikely, given the differences between the two sons of Charles III.
