The stars of the gotha all have a passion for sunglasses. While some like Kate Middleton remain loyal to one brand, Ray-Ban, others like Meghan Markle prefer to change brands and styles.
As with their clothing, every personality in the gotha has their own preferences. On the side of the Monegasque royal family who live under the sun all year round or almost all year round, sunglasses are a must. Thus Charlene de Monaco, Charlotte Casiraghi or Beatrice Borromeo are often photographed with sunglasses and each likes to play with styles.
Charlene de Monaco bets on wide black models as well as mirrored glasses, while Charlotte Casiraghi has classic black Ray-Ban models as well as numerous pairs of Gucci (as a brand ambassador). Her sisters-in-law, both Beatrice Borromeo and Tatiana Santo Domingo use sunglasses as a real accessory, and both were falling for heart-shaped models in 2020.
The British royal family loyal to Ray-Ban
Kate Middleton wears practically nothing but Ray-Bans just like Prince Harry and Prince Charles. Kate Middleton owns different models of Wayfarrer but often chooses black, square or rectangular sunglasses.
Prince Harry remains sober, except during polo matches where he bets on tinted and coloured lenses.
As for Zara Phillips, she collects Ray-Ban, but is also faithful to a colourful Illesteva model, a brand quickly adopted by Meghan Markle.
Meghan Markle addicted to sunglasses
As a true Californian, Meghan Markle has a passion for sunglasses and owns an impressive number of pairs. Butterfly shaped black glasses, round coloured and striped glasses, she accessorises her outfits with a pair of Finlay & Co, but also with Tom Ford or Stella McCartney.
Unlike the royal family, she doesn’t wear Ray-Ban, which is an American brand, but has been influenced by Zara Tindall, from whom she likes to steal her favourite brand: Illesteva.
Meghan Markle has them in many colors and when they are not on her eyes, they are necessarily hung on her shirt neckline. She also likes Le Spec sunglasses which were quickly out of stock before a welcome restocking.
