While relations between the Sussexes and the British royal family seem as strained as ever, a source has told Closer that Meghan Markle is reportedly ready to re-engage with Prince Harry’s entourage. Since their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have continued to distance themselves from the British royal family. A situation that seems to be weighing heavily on the Duke of Sussex’s mind. Indeed, Prince William’s brother is said to be nostalgic and would like to reconnect with those closest to him. A move that Meghan Markle may well accept out of love, but also for the sake of her career. Witness the revelations of a source in an exchange with Closer on Wednesday 22 November. “Meghan and Harry are in panic mode and it is becoming increasingly clear that their royal worth is diminishing, which is having repercussions for their careers in Hollywood,” the source told our sources.
According to him, the Sussexes would like to reconnect with the British royal family as soon as possible. “They both know that their success relies on their royal connections and being snubbed at Charles’ birthday celebrations was a huge wake-up call that the royal family are no longer willing to pretend to fund their Hollywood lifestyle,” the source added, before continuing, “Meghan is now pushing for a reconciliation. She says she won’t be seen as having two faces, but they will have to make an effort to keep their bond. It’s a difficult balance to strike and it’s causing tension.”
Prince Harry and Meghan back in the UK for Christmas? “It’s unlikely…”
Despite this realisation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are unlikely to appear at Sandringham this Christmas. Indeed, since 2018, Archie and Lilibet’s parents have been absent from the Windsors’ festive celebrations. According to royal expert Tessa Dunlop, the Sussexes are set to miss out again this year despite a few attempts to get closer in recent months. “Just as Harry didn’t attend Balmoral this summer, he is unlikely to grace Sandringham with his presence,” she said in an interview with the Mirror last October.
