After months without a shadow of content on her podcast channel co-created with Prince Harry on the Spotify platform, Meghan Markle is about to finally present a new recording, as reported by “The Express Uk”.
But where are the podcasts promised by the company Archewell, a company founded by the Sussexes? In 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had signed with the streaming giant Spotify to publish a series of these audio contents that everyone loves. But so far, the $25 million gold deal hasn’t really paid off, as only one podcast from the couple has been released online: a 33-minute recording with well-known stars Elton John, James Corden, Tyler Perry and Stacey Abrams. As the end of March 2022 approaches, Meghan Markle has decided to show her seriousness and honor her commitments by getting ready to release a second podcast, as revealed by L’Express Uk on March 18.
Faced with delays in the production of these podcasts, the music streaming platform had taken over the project and had started looking for three producers last January. Since then, Archewell has hired Rebecca Sananes, formerly senior producer of Vox Media and the New York magazine-owned podcast Pivot, as “head of studio audio,” as our British confrères put it. To help Archie and Lilibet Diana’s parents, producer Ben Browning, who has worked on films such as Sanctum (2020) or more recently The Outfit (2022), has also joined the studio as head of content for Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
Meghan Markle’s podcasts: a project disrupted by current events
As the year 2022 dawned, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took their turn to voice their displeasure to their employer, Spotify. Indeed, many celebrities, including the Sussexes, had urged the platform to remove the content of a certain Joe Rogan, criticized for spreading false information about the health crisis. “We are counting on Spotify to respond and we are committed to continuing our work together, as we should,” the couple’s spokesperson had said in a statement.
