In a Facebook post, Liza Minnelli wanted to set the record straight about her alleged friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Not a day goes by without Meghan Markle and Prince Harry being the victims of rumours and misinformation. But, as rarely in the past, the couple has finally been able to see some semblance of truth re-established.
In an article published on June 13, The Sun claims that actress Liza Minnelli contacted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during the lockdown in California. The daughter of Judy Garland’s daughter immediately denied this information on her Facebook account the next day.
“While I wish them all the best, I never met Prince Harry and Meghan. Any statement to the contrary is a complete fabrication,” the 74-year-old star wrote.
The Sun’s report “revealed” that the star of the film Cabaret had helped William’s brother “find his feet” in Los Angeles, where he is now living with his wife and son. According to the incriminating article, Liza Minnelli had decided to reach out to them because of her friendship with Princess Diana.
The singer and dancer had met Lady Di at one of her concerts. “I was lucky enough to count Princess Di as a friend,” she said of Prince Charles’ former wife, reports The Sun. After this first meeting, the two women had seen each other several times, notably during the preview of the film Stepping Out, released in 1991.
If Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not close to Liza Minnelli, they can nevertheless count on other friends, starting with Tyler Perry. The American producer lent them one of his Californian residences when they arrived in Los Angeles.
The couple also count among their acquaintances Serena Williams, who lives not far from their home, as well as Oprah Winfrey and actress Abigail Spencer. Above all, they can count on the no less essential presence of Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle’s mother. Always there to help them raise little Archie.
