Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just announced a partnership with the group Procter & Gamble. A multinational that the Duchess of Sussex knows well since as a child, she had denounced one of their sexist advertisements …
Since their withdrawal from the royal family, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are chaining projects. The couple, who will soon welcome a baby girl, has just announced a partnership over several years, via its foundation Archewell, with the multinational Procter & Gamble, which owns several brands of care, hygiene and household products such as Oral B, Gillette, Pampers or Tampax.
This partnership will focus on gender equality, more inclusive online spaces, and resilience and impact through sport,” said a statement released by the Archewell Foundation. Young Archie’s parents and the multinational company have previously worked together through Global Citizen’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World. “An event that built confidence in vaccines, worldwide, and raised more than $300 million to facilitate access to the Covid-19 vaccine worldwide,” the release notes.
Meghan Markle has already dealt with this multinational
But this is not the first time that Procter & Gamble has had to deal with Meghan Markle. When she was only 11 years old, the actress wrote to the group after seeing an advertisement for Ivory dishwashing liquid on the children’s channel, Nickelodeon. The slogan for the product was “Women across America are fighting greasy pots and pans”. The little girl sent a letter to the people in charge asking them to change the word “women” to “people”.
And she got her way. She explained at the time: “I don’t think it’s fair for children to grow up thinking that their mother does everything. It’s always ‘mom does this’, ‘mom does that’. She went on to say, “If you see something you don’t like or that offends you on TV, write letters and send them to the right people. You can make a difference, not just to yourself but to many other people.
