Busy day for Kate Middleton. On Monday 9 March, after attending the Commonwealth Day ceremony at Westminster Abbey, the Duchess of Cambridge hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace. For the 25th anniversary of an association of which she is the patron, the wife of Prince William demonstrated that the break with Sussex was consummated. In particular with Meghan Markle.
Kate Middleton’s been busy. On her return from a few days in Ireland, the Duchess of Cambridge was reunited with the rest of the royal family for a specially awaited ceremony.
On Monday 9 March, all were gathered at Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day ceremony. An event which this year was even more scrutinised than usual as it was here that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their latest appearance as members of the British Royal Family.
And, as expected, the reunion between Sussex and Cambridge was not one of complicity. On the contrary, the two couples deliberately ignored each other – perhaps to comply with health protocol – before bidding farewell.
Within hours of leaving the building, Kate Middleton was attending another event dear to her heart. That evening, she was hosting a reception at Buckingham Palace. As patron of Place2Be since 2013, the Duchess welcomed children and parents supported by Place2Be, which works for the emotional well-being of students, families, teachers and school staff.
And as she celebrated the association’s 25th anniversary, Kate Middleton demonstrated that the breakup was consummated with Meghan Markle.
Wardrobe Recycling and Discourse on Long-Term Commitment
First of all, in terms of clothing. Kate has once again taken up the challenge of recycling, as she did with her burgundy coat on that very afternoon. Under the golds of the Palace, William’s wife shone in a blue Jenny Packham dress that she had already put on in Bombay during her royal tour of India and Bhutan in 2016.
By choosing to recycle an outfit she had already worn, she obviously distinguished herself from Meghan Markle, who has created a string of new designs for her final royal engagements.
Kate Middleton also gave a speech full of innuendo to her guests in Buckingham. As Meghan Markle leaves the British Royal Family less than two years after joining it, the Duchess of Cambridge stressed her long-standing commitment to community involvement.
“Place2Be was one of the first charities I became a patron of. After many years of learning about the importance of childhood development, I see even more value in the work you do and I am extremely grateful for everything you have taught me over the past seven years,” said Prince William’s wife, as reported by People.
Kate Middleton also stressed the importance of Place2Be, which “taught her the importance of creating safe and stimulating environments in schools, taking a holistic view of emotional well-being” but also “that it is the simplest things that make the difference for children”.
In other words, the Duchess of Cambridge swears by commitment and sustainability. Goodbye Meghan.
