While the crisis has hit the UK hard, Kate Middleton is embarking on a new battle: fighting alcohol and gambling addiction. Very concerned, the Duchess of Cambridge has made a video conference to discuss the problem.

Excluded Kate Middleton? She was not. While the pill is still struggling to kick in, after the cover of The Tatler and the revelations of her entourage, the Duchess of Cambridge has decided to go ahead and return to the front lines. Prince William’s wife embarked on a new battle: understanding and helping British people affected by gambling and alcohol addictions.

According to a survey by the charity Action on Addiction and YouGov, one in four British adults drink more alcohol because of the Covid-19 crisis. The results also show that 4% of those surveyed have increased their online gambling consumption, or two million people across the country.

The Duchess of Cambridge, alerted by this situation, wished to speak to a rehabilitation centre in Wiltshire by videoconference from her country house at Anmer Hall. The mother asked the healthcare staff what challenges they had had to overcome during the pandemic. Then Kate Middleton praised all the people who worked throughout the coronavirus crisis.

Kate Middleton stays the course

With this new initiative, Kate Middleton is once again showing that she has positioned herself as a key member of the British Royal Family. Touched but overwhelmed by the latest revelations in the press, the Duchess of Cambridge holds her course, seeking through her public speaking engagements not to complain about her personal torments, but to listen to and support the most vulnerable. An essential quality for the wife of a future king.
