Despite the distance, Kate Middleton’s three children and Prince William, George, Charlotte and Louis, were not short of ideas for regular news of the Queen and Prince Philip, confined to Windsor.
Elizabeth II assured them in her televised address this Sunday, April 5: “We will meet again.” Words of hope that are both salutary and reassuring in this time of unprecedented health crisis. Like half of humanity, the coronavirus epidemic has shaken the daily lives of Britons and separated families.
The Queen herself is now facing the “painful sense of separation from loved ones” she referred to in her historic speech. Confined separately, however, members of the royal family have found ways to keep contact at a distance.
Considered to be at risk because of their age, Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, who had reportedly already prepared for her funeral, were confined to their residence in Windsor to limit the risk of contamination following the announcement of positive cases in their close circle.
Their son, Prince Charles has taken refuge in Balmoral, before being joined by his wife Camilla Parker Bowles. For their part, after having supported the caregivers in London, Prince William and Kate Middleton isolated themselves in their Norfolk residence with their children George, Charlotte and Louis.
When they are not doing their homework or running around the large gardens of Anmer Hall Manor, all three talk daily with their great-grandparents, reports The Sun.
“Kate Middleton makes sure that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis talk to the Queen, whom they call ‘Gan Gan’, and Prince Philip as often as possible,” confirms a source close to the Cambridge family.
Regular phone calls, videos of their chats, Kate Middleton and William’s children have no shortage of resources to keep the link at a distance, and they don’t forget their grandfather Prince Charles either. “They love to chat with him. (…) They tell him about the lambs, squirrels and cattle on the property,” the source says. That’s enough to change the mind of Prince Charles, who contracted the coronavirus last month.
