Harry and Meghan dissent: this big decision made without consultation with Buckingham

Because of their more strained relationship with the British royal family, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made the choice not to tell Buckingham about a big decision they recently made.

The relationship between the Sussex couple and the British royal family is not about to get any better. Their communication seems to be at a standstill. So much so that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, would have voluntarily made a big decision without consulting Buckingham. As The Express reports, they did not notify the Windsor clan when they announced their children’s titles.

The Duke and Duchess did indeed reveal that their son Archie and daughter Lilibet would officially use their titles of prince and princess. But the decision would not have been mentioned beforehand, the Palace having learned the news when the Sussex couple issued a statement indicating that their daughter “Princess Lilibet Diana” had been christened in the United States. A mention that confirmed the official title of Princess Lilibet of Sussex, obtained thanks to her status as a granddaughter of King Charles III. The same goes for her older brother, who inherited the title of Prince Archie of Sussex. The two children were, until now, officially presented as “Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor” and “Mister Archie Mountbatten-Windsor”.

“Buckingham Palace was caught off guard”

After discovering little Lilibet’s title when her christening was announced, “Buckingham rushed to grant the titles of prince and princess on its website,” historian Tessa Dunlop revealed on True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat. “The way the news came out surprised everyone and Buckingham Palace was caught off guard,” assured Daily Mail reporter Russell Myers. “They can claim that everything was agreed a long time ago and that there were discussions at the time, but I think they would have imagined that the Sussexes would discuss with them when they would release the statement,” continued the royal expert. “The sense I got was that this was not the case. I think that says a lot about the current relationship and how fractured it is.”
