While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry now live in Los Angeles, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank now live at Frogmore Cottage. But do they pay rent in Sussex?
Change of ownership. Now settled in Los Angeles, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave up their status as senior members of the British Royal Family almost a year ago, citing the desire to earn their own living and embrace a new life in the United States.
It was a departure that left their home at Frogmore Cottage vacant, but it remains their official home, renovated at their own expense and where they intended to return to while in the UK. However, eight months after their departure, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank left their boxes there, with the agreement of the Sussex couple.
“Delighted” to be able to open their house to the future parents who will welcome their first child in 2021, the couple had all their belongings removed from their official residence in order to leave the way clear for Prince Harry’s cousin, who had been living at Kensington Palace until then.
An “agreement” that seems to exclude one very precise point: the payment of a rent. Indeed, according to the royal experts, this point seems completely excluded from this arrangement between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, reports The Express.
Elizabeth II warned once the agreement was made
Not so surprising, since it is an official residence of the British family. As a result, even the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not pay rent to Elizabeth II, who was notified of the move after the agreement between the two couples was made. Moreover, when they return to the United Kingdom to visit the Royal Family, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will have to live with the latter’s cousin and her husband. A task that does not seem too difficult, given that the Duke of Sussex and Princess Eugenie have been particularly close since their childhood.
