They have not seen Archie for two years and have never even met the little Lilibet… For all that, Prince William and Kate Middleton keep the link with the Sussex. It is once again from afar that they will spoil the children of Meghan Markle and Harry for Christmas.
It’s hard to know where the relationship between the Sussexes and the Cambridges stands. Since the hasty departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the British monarchy at the beginning of 2020, and their bitter interview with Oprah Winfrey, they would maintain delicate relations with the rest of the royal family. Those who would have suffered the most from this royal breakup would be princes William and Harry, previously so close and complicit … Unfortunately, this Christmas will not be one of reconciliation.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been living in California for the past year and a half, have no intention of making the trip to the UK to spend the festive season with the royal family. However, we could have expected a meeting of the whole clan around Queen Elizabeth, who has suffered so much this year, between the death of her husband Prince Philip and his health concerns … The meeting with Lilibet, the daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle born last June, will not be for now. The reunion with Archie (2 years), cut off from his paternal family since the fall of 2019, either.
Although they are growing up away from the royal family, Archie and Lilibet should still be spoiled from a distance. Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly planning to send them some gifts from the UK. “They are giving gifts to the whole family and that includes all the nieces and nephews,” expert Katie Nicholls recently assured OK! magazine. Elizabeth II is also expected to send some gifts to her California great-grandchildren. Last year, she already made a splash by sending a waffle machine to Archie. Will she be able to repeat the feat for Lilibet, whom she has never met?
Instead of taking part in the traditional royal Christmas at Sandringham, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children are expected to spend the holidays at their luxurious and secret Montecito villa. The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, could well be part of the party.
