Thursday, May 6, will mark the second birthday of little Archie, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In California with his parents, the toddler could well receive a video call from his great-grandmother for his birthday.
While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby girl, expected in the summer, tomorrow they will celebrate the second birthday of their son Archie, born on May 6, 2019. Now, the little family resides in California, thousands of miles from Buckingham Palace, but it is likely that for this big day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will organize a video call between their eldest and Queen Elizabeth II.
At least that’s what Ingrid Seward, an author specializing in the royal family, seems to think. “It is very likely that they are getting in touch with the Queen to arrange a Zoom call between her and Archie,” said the latter in the pages of Entertainment Daily, “It is very important for them that Archie knows his great-grandmother settled in the UK.”
Meghan Markle: how will her son Archie’s second birthday go?
For now, it is unclear how Meghan and Harry will celebrate this milestone day. Last year, the royal couple shared a video in which Archie can be seen sitting on his mom’s lap listening to her read him the story from one of his favorite books, Duck! Rabbit! in support of the Save the Children organization. Archie also received messages from some members of the royal family, such as his aunt Kate Middleton and uncle William, who wished him a “very happy birthday”, along with a photo of his baptism. Prince Charles and Camilla posted a photo of Prince Harry carrying his son during his christening, alongside an attentive Prince Charles.
Meghan Markle and Archie Reportedly Spoke With Queen Elizabeth Before Prince Philip’s Funeral
Although she wasn’t able to be there in person, Meghan Markle apparently made sure to personally reach out to Queen Elizabeth to express her condolences ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday.
The Duchess of Sussex is currently very pregnant with her and Prince Harry’s second child—a baby girl due this summer—and so was advised by her doctors not to make the long journey back to the U.K for the funeral. However, sources confirmed to Vanity Fair that Meghan did watch the service on TV from her home in Montecito and handwrote a heartfelt letter from herself and Harry that was placed alongside their wreath on the lawns outside St George’s Chapel.
On top of that, a source who spoke to People explained that “Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather’s funeral,” adding, “Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week.” In February, Harry revealed to James Corden that he and Meghan had been regularly video chatting with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip throughout the pandemic, saying, “Both my grandparents do Zoom. They’ve seen Archie running around.”
The source went on to explain that “Meghan and Harry have been in touch every day,” since he left. They continued, “She knows the trip to England has been difficult for Harry. He didn’t want to leave Meghan and Archie alone. Meghan has insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn’t wanted him to worry.” But those reassuring conversations haven’t stopped Harry from wanting to rush back to his wife’s side, flying back to Los Angeles on Tuesday, one day before Queen Elizabeth’s 95th birthday.
“Harry felt terrible leaving Meghan behind, it has been a very hard week and he wants to get back to her as soon as possible,” an insider told Vanity Fair. But the couple still won’t get to reunite just yet as once he’s back in the United States the royal will have to quarantine for another week and produce a negative COVID test before he can finally see his wife.
Does the Queen really matter in Megxit’s life? Why run away with Archie? And now you want the Queen to speak with him? What type of hypocrisy is that?
