After some of Prince Harry’s revelations in his memoirs, his visa may not be renewed. And according to a royal expert, his wife Meghan Markle should have warned him to keep quiet about it so as not to get into trouble.
Released on January 10, Prince Harry’s memoirs, The Substitute, have caused a lot of talk, especially for the many accusations that the youngest son of King Charles III makes against his father and brother, Prince William. And if many have focused on these revelations, in recent days, it is other key moments of the book that have attracted attention. Indeed, Page Six revealed this Tuesday, March 21, that the Duke of Sussex could be deprived of his right to live in the United States.
The reason? He spoke a lot about his past use of drugs in his autobiography. He revealed that he “drank a lot”, used cocaine and smoked weed in his youth, but also experimented with hallucinogenic drugs as an adult, even considering them a “fundamental” part of his life. According to royal biographer Angela Levin, his wife, Meghan Markle, should have warned him of the consequences his confession could have. “I don’t understand why his wife didn’t warn him,” she told Dan Wootton on GB News.
“Why did she leave him alone in this case?”
The royal expert added: “He talked to her about everything he was going to say. She is in charge in this relationship, as we both know. And she didn’t tell him ‘be careful, because if you talk too much about drugs, you might get in trouble.'” She also wondered “why she left him alone in this affair”. Prince Harry had revealed that he was sent to a rehab center at the age of 17 by his father, King Charles III, after admitting to smoking marijuana.
“Admitting to drug use is usually grounds for inadmissibility (for a visa, ed. note),” explained former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani, before adding, “This means that Prince Harry’s visa should have been denied or revoked since he admitted to using cocaine, mushrooms and other drugs.” But other attorneys have refuted that idea until Archie and Lilibet’s father faces justice. An immigration lawyer, meanwhile, told Page Six that if Prince William’s brother were to get into legal trouble, the Duchess of Sussex could sponsor her husband to stay on American soil.
