Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: why their children can write off future royal titles

When Charles took his place on the throne, Archie and Lilibet became eligible for a royal title. But it’s their grandfather who decides. And his latest move toward Meghan and Harry speaks volumes…

New earthquake within the royal family. King Charles III has decided to withdraw Frogmore Cottage to Harry and Meghan. In other words, if the Sussexes want to stay in England – for the coronation in May for example – they will have to find another second home. This decision of the monarch would have been very badly perceived by some members of the royal family, like Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, who support Harry and Meghan. Thousands of Internet users have also commented on the eviction of the Sussexes on social networks and have said that Charles is a king and a cruel father. And even a bad grandfather since his decision also affects Archie and Lilibet.

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Prince Harry’s children now have “very little chance” of receiving the titles of “prince” and “princess,” he told the Express. And the British may also not see much of the Sussexes because, again according to Richard Fitzwilliams, they “will visit Britain little” from now on.

The Sussex and Charles, soon the divorce?

If Archie and Lilibet were not given royal titles at birth, it is simply because Queen Elizabeth II, their great-grandmother, was still alive at the time. And the rule dictates that titles can only be awarded to second-degree descendants (i.e. grandchildren). Since the King of England is now Charles, their grandfather, they are eligible for a royal title. However, this is not automatic. It happens only at the will of the monarch. And the decision that the latter has taken, concerning Frogmore Cottage (which he wants to pass on to his brother Prince Andrew), is a rather negative marker …

Harry and Meghan have not officially reacted to Charles’ attack. And they probably won’t. All eyes are now on the coronation of the king on May 6. Will the Sussexes be there? Their absence would be a sign of a definitive rupture, of an irreconcilable disagreement, like a divorce…
