In the Daily Express dated November 5, our British colleagues have provided some details on the upcoming release of the book written by Prince Harry. We learn in particular who chose the title of the book and its publication date
If the last few weeks have been particularly trying for the British royal family, it could be that those to come will not be of any rest either. Indeed, Prince Harry would have completed his memoirs, after having slightly modified them following the sudden death of Queen Elizabeth II. While he promised a “first-hand account”, our colleagues from the Daily Express have made it clear that the book was produced with the contribution of JR Moehringer, who is already the author of the autobiography of William’s younger brother. This journalist, a graduate of Yale and winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 2000, would have finalized the manuscript. However, British journalists indicate that it is Prince Harry himself who would have chosen the title of his memoirs, entitled The Substitute.
In an article published on Friday, November 4, the royal commentator Omid Scobie analyzes the book to be published on January 10, 2023. He says that the beginning of the book mentions a writing of “raw and unflinching honesty”, which would be overwhelming with “insight, revelations, self-examination and hard-won wisdom”. Despite the fears of King Charles III and part of the monarchy, it would seem that the writings of Diana’s second son do not tarnish too much the image of the royal family that he decided to leave abruptly with his wife Meghan. According to Omid Scobie, the picture painted by Archie and Lilibet’s father “offers a more sympathetic view of the family’s royal reality, which makes their lives almost impossible”.
Prince Harry’s memoir release thwarted by…Michelle Obama
If Harry decided to revise his manuscript following the death of his grandmother, he also had to make some adjustments, including its release date, moved to January 10. A setback caused by the former First Lady Michelle Obama whose new book is due to be published on November 15. “It will be published on January 10, which is a surprise to a lot of people in the publishing industry who thought they would want to take advantage of the Christmas rush […] One person I spoke to told me that she (Michelle Obama) would never postpone a publication of this magnitude until January,” said journalist Rebecca English on Palace Confidential.
