Throughout the past week, Prince Harry has been overseeing the organization of the Invictus Games, the international games for veterans, which were first held in 2014. Prince Harry presided over the opening ceremony of this 5th edition of the Invictus Games in The Hague last Saturday. Meghan Markle was present during the first days, before abandoning her husband in the Netherlands. The Duchess of Sussex returned a few days ago to the United States to find their children who were not on the trip.

In recent days, Prince Harry has participated in various events organized in conjunction with the Invictus Games and has attended several competitions held at Zuiderpark in The Hague. This Friday, on the last day of competition, Prince Harry attended the final of the wheelchair basketball tournament. The game was attended by King Willem-Alexander.

Harry is a distant cousin of King Willem-Alexander. The Dutch royal family is one of the most distantly related royal families. The closest common ancestor between Willem-Alexander and Harry is Frederick II of Württemberg.

Princess Margriet, the godmother of the Dutch Invictus Games delegation, also attended the final, which pitted the American team against the Dutch team. King Willem-Alexander’s aunt sat in the stands next to one of her sons, Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Orange-Nassau.
