Meghan Markle: Why she could stay solo in the United States for the summer

Meghan Markle could spend her summer on American soil. The Duchess of Sussex wants to stay with her little Archie.

No, Meghan Markle will not be returning to British soil any time soon! Rumour has it that the Duchess of Sussex will not be flying back to the UK this summer. The reason? Prince Harry’s wife would like to stay with little Archie. This would make it easier for the Duke of Sussex to travel on his own to fulfil his royal responsibilities. The Covid-19 pandemic also weighed in the balance, making travel more complicated.

Meghan Markle will remain in her $14 million home in Montecito, California. A source close to royalty said: “Meghan doesn’t want to be away from Archie. It would be very difficult to manage a small child in their travels due to the restrictions potentially in place”.

So the royal family will have to make do with Zoom to get news of the little boy. “Archie loves making Zoom calls with the family and the Queen has enjoyed these moments during the lockdown,” adds the same source.

Many royal engagements

What is Prince Harry’s programme? If the health crisis subsides, Prince Harry will return to the UK next June. He will be there for the 95th birthday of his grandmother, Elizabeth II, but also to celebrate Prince Philip’s 100th birthday. While 1 July 2021 would have marked Lady Diana’s 60th birthday, Prince Harry will be present for the unveiling of a statue in her effigy, which will be installed in the garden of Kensington Palace.
